Story/Setting

Story (Brief)

After decades of challenges, humanity is entering a new Golden Age. Robots sent into space created a self-sustaining Robotosphere that harvested the resources of the Solar System to make it habitable for humans over a 200 year period. Our story takes place 331 years After Migration (331 A.M.). Earth has been left to heal as we moved into space. The highest concentration of people outside of Earth and the Stations is on Venus. 31 years ago the Venusian Games were founded – violent spectacles where remote controlled robots do battle for sport, glory and funds.

Descendants of the African Nations

After decades of war, famine and disease humanity is entering a new Golden Age. During the Great Upheaval, various groups launched robots into space to prepare the Solar System for colonization. These robots created vast networks of living “organisms” – self-repairing, self-replicating cybernetic organisms; working in concert to process and refine the resources of our solar system. They were the “Robotosphere”. With factories on the dark side of the Moon, across the asteroid belt and in orbit around planetary bodies it took nearly 200 years to terraform the Solar System into a place that life could inhabit. Great space stations were built in the skies of Earth, Mars, Venus and more. Permanent shuttles were built to transport material from the outer system bodies to orbital factories where it was refined and fed into gigantic 3D printing space stations to produce new ships, machines, greenhouses and more.

Private corporations, the remaining Earth governments and digital transnat cooperatives have flocked to space. The population growth has shifted from planetside to booming orbital colonies. In almost all governed regions across the globe, development has been halted or severely curtailed. Space is the new place to build one’s fortune and to pursue technological advancements, while Earth and the life left on it have been left to heal.

The year is 331 After Migration. The place is Venus; the only planet to have a sizeable human colony outside of Earth and the orbital stations. It is 31 years after the founding of the Venusian Games – violent spectacles where remote controlled robots do battle for sport, glory and funds.

Now humanity is left to enjoy and use the fruits of those who dreamed of a better tomorrow.
